I would like to know what is the method for applying eyeshadow the corrct way, to get that nice blended cat eye look? Any suggestions???
Reply by CMG
When it comes to eye makeup you must understand your eye shape first. When you look into a mirror do you see a lot of your eyelid? Or, do you see very little? Is the center crease of your lid visible?
The cat eye look became famous from the runways. Cat eyes are sexy and seductive and suits almost everyone no matter what your eye shape is. Creating the perfect cat eye look is all about using and properly applying eyeliner or eye pencil to create a hard line around the eye, following your eye shape. Here are a few steps to get the best cat look.
Step One. Apply an eyeshadow base
The best way to make your eye shadow stay put longer is to apply an eyeshadow base. Eyeshadow bases are nude colors that glide over the eyelid to create a perfect base for eye shadow application. You can also use a foundation with powder on top to set.
Step Two. Use eye liner
You can create the cat eye look simply by using liquid liner or eye pencil to line your lash line. Professional makeup artists usually use liquid eyeliner as it creates a thicker line but most women find applying liquid eyeliner very difficult. Remember: if you want to create a cat eye look you should use black its more dramatic.
(Lining your eyes)
Tip your head back and look down into a mirror. Use a sharp eyeliner/liquid liner and start with the inner corners of your eyes. Dot along the root of your lashes moving from the inner corners of the eyes outwards. Make sure you follow the natural curve of the eye. The further you go out the thicker the liner should get (in order to create the cat eye look.) Use a flat eyeshadow brush and smudge the line slightly to soften the effect. It is essential to line your upper lid, carefully extending the liner up a bit past the eye (quarter of an inch should be enough). Remember: you should make the line as close to the lashes as possible. Don't forget to line the bottom, thin in the inner thicker towards the outer.
Step Three. Apply eyeshadow
It's up to you whether or not to apply eyeshadow. The traditional cat eye look doesn't involve any eye shadows at all, just a natural base. If you do decide, apply colored eye shadows along the lid and outer corner in order to create definition and contour. Look for darker shades as it will add more definition to your eyes. Use two or three eyeshadow colors and apply them very carefully. Again go a bit wider when going to the outward part of the eye.
Step Four. Curl your lashes and apply lots of mascara!
Thanks so much and have fun....remember: Understand your eye shape. Certain colors of eye shadows will change the shape of your eyes. Light colors highlight while dark colors add depth.

Question by blaze5113
I am at that age where my lips are not as full as they used to be. I don't like plumpers because they dry my lips out. With the dark colors coming out for fall, any suggestions for making lips look fuller?
Reply by CMG
To me, lipstick is one of the best things about being a woman. It improves our mood and pulls our look together. This is just a small ritual we all do daily that makes us feel better every time we put it on. I call it my lipstick therapy! Heee..
You're right about the darker colors being Hot this fall but finding the right color is the first step. Scarlets, berries and burgundy as well as other rich shades make us look sexy. They are classic and of course have attitude. Who doesn't want that? Just find one that's not matte. The more shimmer and shine the more three dimensional lips will look. Here's a few tips:
* After applying lipstick or lip gloss, put a dot of concealer or white eyeshadow/liner to the Cupid's bow of your top lip. Blend slightly and it will alone give lips an illusion of fullness.
**Never draw a line outside your natural lip line-it won't make our lips look fuller, I promise you. It'll just make your lipstick look cheap and messy.**
* Always remember that a shimmer will make your lips look fuller. For added definition, use a loose shimmery (white or light pink work best) eyeshadow. Dab a little to the middle of the bottom lip and a little to the two arches of the upper lip.
Your right about lip plumper's. They can be drying and I haven't met a great one yet. However, there is a trick to using them and they will work. Don't apply the plumper to your lips. Apply it to the outer area closest to the lip line. Plumper's are made to stimulate your lips much like a bee sting. This causing lips to swell and plump. There's no oil glands on lips for plumper's to work (that's why they don't and dry them out more and burn) but if you apply it above the lip and below, you'll notice them larger and wont have to worry about your lips being dry. Try this, I promise it'll work better for you.
Hope this helped some. Thank you so much and please remember this: Treat your lips like you do your skin. Most women forget about them. When you're preparing your skin for makeup, remember this order: Cleanser, exfoliate, toner, moisturizer, eye cream, and LIP BALM!!!

Question by pinkpaws
I have bags under my eyes and have tried everything short of plastic surgery to help...they aren't that bad but I hate taking pictures because it just emphasizes the problem...I use Mac concealer and apply ice or cold cucumbers to my eyes but nothing seems to work that well...Is there anything that will help with my problem?
Reply by CMG
Hi PinkPaws,
For a lot of people, the dark circles under the eyes is a hereditary problem and there's not a lot they can do about it, even with a lot of sleep and drinking. Are you taking a multivitamin? Make sure you're getting a lot of vitamins. Also, I've heard that applying a damp teabag to your eyes for a few minutes a day as well as cucumber slices have helped alleviate this. You also may want to get an eye cream that contains vitamin K and retinol in it...this seems to be the most helpful ingredients in treating dark circles in the long run. Hope that was helpful!
Use a creamy concealer so it doesnt look cakey under your eyes. I like Prescriptives Flawless concealer (comes in a tube) or Vincent Longo concealer.

I am new to makeup. I have wore makeup once before. I don't know much about what works with my skin but I have tested other makeups before and I know that my colour is bronze. The problem I have is that I want to wear the makeup but I don't want to look that made up (as yet). I have a few dark marks on my face from pimples I had. I would like to make them less noticeable.
Reply by CMG
Well the only thing that is going to cover up those marks is a good concealer. Concealer should be lighter than your natural skin tone. I would suggest putting on your foundation first. If you apply your foundation first, even though you are only applying a small amount of it, you will need less of it. If you want to wear makeup but don't want to look made up then try wearing foundation, concealer, a loose powder, and some mascara. Perhaps jazz it up a bit with some gloss from time to time. Hope this helped! Best wishes. ~ Twisted Faces

I have full pink lips and I have trouble finding a lipgloss that real compliments my lips. The ones I have tried look to dull and they do not go good with the shade of my lips. I have been avoiding wearing lip gloss for a long time and I feel like its time to get pack on track but I am so clueless.

Hi and thanks for your question.
I would recommend getting a clear gloss to start. Not one with a super shine to it. Lancome has come out with a great gloss line called the Juicy Tube Smoothie. They are light in pigment and light on shine. They run about $17.50 but you will get good use of them. I love them myself and I have a natural red tint to my lips. They say high shine, but its not true, dont worry. Good luck! ~ Twisted Faces.
