Question by Anonymous
When I try to use concealer under my eyes whether it be minerals or cream I look worse. The lines stand out more and the skin looks more saggy. I have given up and just put moisturizer around them after makeup. This seems to minimize the lines. Any other suggestions. I am 52.
Thanks,

Hi and thanks for your question.
Well this is a tricky one because concealer can and will make those lines horrible. I find that if I use a brush and pat it on, it works great. If you have tried that and are still not seeing the results you want, then what you are doing is a good alternative. It is important to keep the skin around the eyes hydrated and many people neglect to do this. The fact of the matter is, there are so many techniques. Every makeup artist has their own when it comes to under the eyes, but makeup artistry is not a science and you just have to keep trying to see what works for your skin. What is the best product on the market without breaking the bank for lines around the eyes and lips and on lips. For immediatly erasing or softening them? I am 52 and just now getting the crows feet, sagging under the eyes and lip lines, mostly in the lips themselves. I tried Sally Hansen Lip Freeze and so far I am not pleased with the results. Makes the lips soft, but the lines are still there!

Hi and thanks for your question.
Ok here is the deal with anti-aging products on the market today. There is no IMMEDIATE result. That is why it's so competitive. Cosmetic companies around the world are in a race to put out the best product with the quickest results, but with restrictions from the FDA on ingredients, they are all limited. As for brands that won't break the bank, there are many depending on what breaks your bank. Oil of olay is supposed to have a great new line that is inexpensive and within 2 to 3 weeks you will see results. I would like you to consider something though. The skin on your face is the most precious skin on your body. When it comes to cosmetics like "anti-aging" you get what you pay for and really you don't want to cut too many corners. There are reasons these high end cosmetic companies charge so much. With these kind of products there is a lot of reserch involved. Try this: email the companies, especially the bigger ones. Tell them you are intersted in their products and would like some information on them. Also include in your email that you don't want to end up spending the money on them and not be satisfied. Request samples and/or coupons. Most of the major companies will do as you have requested. If nothing else they will tell you to send it back to them if you do not like it or your money back. They will also send you a boat load of information on the products and statistics. Good luck! ~Twisted Faces.

Question by dumbbrunette5
Hi, I can never seem to find make up colors that suit me, especially with eyeshadow and nude lipcolors. I have olive skin and even tho it is not very tan (i stay out of the sun) it isnt super super light either. I have dark brown hair and hazel eyes as well. Any tips for what I should try? Thanks : )

Hi and thanks for your question.
For your eyeshadow you want to go with browns, apricots, purples, plums, deep khaki, forest green, golds, pinks, mauves, and golden browns. These colors will enhance hazel eyes. As for a nude lip color, if you're looking to wear lipstick that doesn't look like you're wearing one, use a low shine gloss. Whatever you decide with your lips, stay away from colors with a orange or pink undertone. Best wishes. ~ Twisted Faces

I have golden/tan skin that you might call olive colored. I was thinking of going blonde for the summer and I want to know what shade would look the best. I have big hazel/green eyes and brownish/dirty blonde hair now.
Thanks!

Hi and thanks for your question.
Unfortunately, I am not a color expert of the hair. I would recommend going to your stylist and speaking with them. They are better educated to answer all your questions as to what you want and whats going to look best. Personally, I wouldnt go too blonde. Thanks again. ~Twisted Faces

What is the best foundation for freckles? Do I match my neck color or more of the color of my freckles? I have tons of freckles on my face. If I have to match the color of my freckles, how do I blend it in so it doesn't look like my face is a lot darker than my neck?
Reply by CMG
Hi Anonymous and thanks for the question.
With any foundation, it needs to be matched at the jaw line and neck. I always test by the ear area. My face is covered in freckles as well. There is no hiding them. Foundation is more of a base; If you want to try to cover them, use concealer, but I will warn you that if it’s not blended correctly it will look cakey. I argue with people all the time about this. They say that dark circles are hard to cover. Ha! They need to try freckles. Normally with the right foundation, some good powder, and proper application of your makeup, the freckles won’t be gone, but they will be lighter and not as noticeable. Personally I have given up on them. In the summer they get darker and I have more, so I just don’t bother. I have learned to love my freckles…LOL.
